Brother Interview: Greg Finn '08

This week's brother interview is on brother Greg Finn '08!

Basic Stuff:
1. Your name, as you would prefer it to be stated?
Greg Finn

2. Your current location?
Pompano Beach, FL

3. Your Facebook/Twitter account links?
4. Badge Number?
103

5. Pledge Class Name?
Omicron - Spring 2008

6. Fraternity Nickname, if you remember it?
Huckleberry 1.625

7. Story behind how you got your nickname, if you remember it?
My last name is Finn and I didn't do anything stupid during pledging, so my big had nothing to work with. The number thing... ask Mo.

8. Your fondest memory of being a Phi Psi?
I was an active UG for 4.5 years, way too many memories. But probably my entire last year living in Dickinson was my fondest.

9. Your most embarrassing moment as a Phi Psi?
Again, way too many memories. Probably something from the Dickinson house year. Or something with Amaresh (his birthday mixer/New Years)

10. Your proudest moment as a Phi Psi?
Tough call between being educator and GP. Both times after initiation were really proud moments for me. Those and most service events, especially the polar bear plunge which has become a tradition.

11. Any unique memories from your time as a Phi Psi?
Way too many, some of my favorites were the Drexel Thanksgiving Service Events, Paddy's Day Rd 2, New Years Eve 2011, Greek Week (All of them), Getting Jakes car towed/fixed in the hood in Camden, the list goes on and on!

12. Any fraternal advice you would give to an undergraduate Phi Psi today?
Do everything you can to help someone out, and attend as many Fraternity Activities as you can. You won't get many stories by doing the minimum.

13. When was the last time you visited Rowan or the chapter?
Since I live in Florida, my visits are few and far between. Last time I was at the chapter house was New Years Eve 2012, so a visit might happen soon.

14. What is favorite event the chapter holds?
Formals are always a good time and annual service events like thanksgiving really stand out to me. The Phi Psi Pheast before thanksgiving was also an awesome idea, I hope the UGs still do it.

15. Who's the 1 brother you want to reconnect with / see interviewed here?
Without a doubt in my mind... Brian Hancock. WWBHD? .... and Joe Valver

16. Name 1 friend you made in NJE you still keep in touch with...
Amaresh Vidyarthi, Kevin Still, and Joe Hankins to name a few

Career Stuff:
17. Year you graduated from Rowan?
I took the five year plan and graduated in 2012.

18. Degree(s) you graduated Rowan with?
BS - Accounting, BS - Finance, Minor in Psychology

19. Any advanced degrees or certifications you have?
I literally just passed the CPA Exam. Certification will be complete shortly.

20. Your current occupation?
Internal Auditor for Holman Automotive Group Inc. (If anyone is looking for a new/used car, hit me up! I got some good pull in my company's dealerships)

21. Number of years in that occupation?
1.5 years

22. Any career advice you would give to an undergraduate Phi Psi today?
Start applying early, never turn down an opportunity anywhere. The worst thing that could happen is you gain an experience (interview practice or actual working experience) and learn something about yourself (whether or not you can see yourself in this field/company)

23. What's one piece of advice you'd give every undergraduate about networking?
NEVER BURN A BRIDGE! I got my job because of this. Rowan had me represent the college of business for something sponsored by North Western Mutual. I met a recruiter who offered me an interview for a job. I accepted to hear them out with zero interest of accepting. I denied after being offered a job. Three months later the HR Recruiter was at a career fair for my current employer. She switched jobs, recognized me and held my resume until a position in accounting opened. She knew I was a good fit from our previous interviews.

Relationships/Family/Personal Stuff:
24. Are you currently in a relationship? If so, with who and for how long?
Nope, the single life is the way to go for me right now.

25. Do you have kids? If so, how old and their names?
Hahaha, if I do, nobody told me. Hopefully no anchor babies from the Cabo trip will be knocking on my door.

26. Hobbies that you are currently into? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I try to play pool whenever I can, but my new passion is martial arts. I practice Krav Maga and Braziallian Jiu Jitsu multiple nights a week. I also was volunteering at the local Humane Society prior to the CPA studying that consumed my life. I plan to get back into that after the holidays.

27. Anything you would like to share with other brothers through the blog regarding your relationship/family/personal life?
I live in Fort Lauderdale and have a sweet couch, if you're ever in the area, you now a place to crash. Keep in touch, I'll be back in NJ soon enough!
