2nd Interview: Greg DiLorenzo '03

This week's brother interview is the 2nd interview for brother Greg DiLorenzo '03!

Basic Stuff:
1. Current city/state that you live in?
Glendora, NJ

Fraternity Stuff:
2. Did you hold any elected or appointed officer positions as an undergraduate? If so, what positions and what semester/year, if you can remember?
I was Sgt. Of Arms. Don’t remember exactly when or for how long. Believe it may have been 2 semesters 2004-2005, maybe?

3. Stories about nicknames, but this time not yours! Tell us why you gave your little(s) their nicknames. Your chance to tell your side of the story!
Derek Watty was my little. His nickname was “Ask Nate.” Derek was very close to Nate Udani, and was almost always with him. Seemed like he would never do anything without Nate’s “O.K.” At one time he was asked to a formal by a certain sorority girl, and his answer to her was, “I don’t know, I have to ask Nate.” Hence, the nickname.

4. What was your favorite service event that you participated in and why?
It’s been so long, I honestly can’t remember everything. I do recall doing the Ocean City MS Walk, which was always fun, but as many may recall, I never really understood the whole “walk for a cause” stuff. But, they were fun anyway.

5. What was your favorite mixer/social event you attended and why?
I am a bit partial to the parties I threw at my parents’ place in Surf City.

6. What was your favorite campus activity/intramural sport you participated in and why?
I always enjoyed flag football. I was part of a team that was the first in fraternity history (I believe) to go undefeated and make it to the championship. (even though it was the B league)

7. Name at least 1 brother you admire and why?
Any brother that has served in the military to keep us safe and protect my right to say all of the controversial things I commonly say.

8. When was the last time you visited Rowan or the chapter?
Almost ashamed to say that its been too long to give you an answer.

Career Stuff:
9. Has your occupation changed since we last interviewed you? If so, what are you doing now?
I am an attorney working at the law firm of Barker, Gelfand & James. We primarily represent public entities and defend them from civil lawsuits, such as allegations of police officer Use of Excessive Force.

I am also a private detective and do some side investigative work under my LLC, Burden of Proof.

10. What are your personal career goals that you hope to achieve one day?
I hope to grow my investigative business utilizing my experiences and contacts as an attorney catering to other attorneys and insurance companies.

11. What advice would you give to an undergraduate in your major today?
My major was law/justice studies. If you are of the same major, it is almost worthless unless you want to go into law enforcement. If you want to do more, you will almost certainly need a post-graduate degree of some sort.

12. If you could go back to college, would you do the same degree or pick something else? If something else, what would you do?
I always planned to go law school and/or pursue something in federal law enforcement. I would still have picked the same major.

Relationships/Family/Personal Stuff:
13. Has your relationship status changed since we last interviewed you?
Nope. Still married.

14. Do you have kids? If so, remind us of their names and how old they are now? This is your moment to brag…tell us something great about your kids!
Yes. One daughter – Amelia. Born 2/22/15

15. Hobbies that you are currently into? What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time? Don’t know what that means.

Questions for Greg!
(Some of these are follow ups to your previous answers, some are completely new. Some questions above already follow up on previous questions as well)

16. Your first interview was a little bare. Are there any questions that I previously asked that you would like a chance to answer for the first time here?
Not really. Sorry. I am a man of few words, usually.

17. Are there any stories that you can safely share about your experiences as a private detective?
There are a lot of stories, but after doing it for a while, there are many similar ones. The only thing that always sticks out are how many scumbags are out there pretending to be hurt and think they can get away with it.

18. You are very vocal on social media when it comes to politics. Are you planning on getting into politics one day?
I would like to, but don’t think I have the requisite “people” skills to really go anywhere.

19. At this moment, who are you leaning towards voting for in the 2016 presidential election and why?
At this very moment, I am leaning towards Carson, but I like Rubio and Cruz as well. Still a little early to know.

20. F***/Marry/Kill (choose one person for each option) – Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and Bernie Sanders – and why?
At the risk of the NSA picking up anything I write, I am hesitant to use the work “kill” and any political figure in the same sentence. With that said, I would not want to f*** any of them, and I would want to marry Trump. I guess you can read between the lines at what I would want to do with Clinton and Sanders. I would want to do so because they are dangerous to the American way of life, would shit on the Constitution as soon as it is it isn’t politically incorrect to do so, and want to turn us into socialists. I would marry Trump, well, because he’s rich.

21. Anyone who has been to your place for a party knows that your basement has a fully stocked bar and that you are an amazing BBQ smoke master. Two questions:
          a. What is your favorite alcoholic drink and why?
Bourbon Manhattan. Bourbon is awesome on its own, but if you need to cut it back a little without ruining, adding just a splash of sweet vermouth and some angostura bitters really just brings out the flavors of the bourbon without drowning it out.

          b. What is your favorite thing to smoke (turkey, brisket, pork, something else) and why?
Brisket, by far. The flavors are awesome, and it is the most challenging to get just right. Pork is nearly impossible to screw up, and turkey is a pain in the ass to prep.

22. Who is your favorite classic rock artist/band and why? Do you have a favorite song of theirs?
It’s so hard to pick just one, there are so many good ones. The ones the top my list are The Who, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and The Beatles.
