Brother Interview: Bill Clayton '00



This week's brother interview is on founder Bill Clayton '00!

1. Your name, as you would prefer it to be stated? 
William Mather Clayton

2. Your current location? 
Gillette, NJ

3. Your Facebook/Twitter account links?
Facebook I really don’t use, and I am not on twitter.

Fraternity Stuff:

5. Pledge Class Name? 
Founding Father

6. Fraternity Nickname, if you remember it? 
Uncle Bill 

7. Story behind how you got your nickname, if you remember it? 
It’s all Chaty’s fault! You will have to ask him or Chris Cassino both of them are trouble! Do not have them in the back seat of your car. 

8. Your fondest memory of being a Phi Psi? 
Helping start the colony that would become the chapter. Meeting all the original nine members, and the ones that followed.

9. Your most embarrassing moment as a Phi Psi? 
Nothing! I am perfect in every way. 

10. Your proudest moment as a Phi Psi? 
When we were chartered 

11. Any unique memories from your time as a Phi Psi? 
I have lots of good memories, but the one that comes to my head right now is going to Rob & Armando’s apartment and drinking lots of Honey Brown beer. Do they still make it? Rob do you have some??

12. Any fraternal advice you would give to an undergraduate Phi Psi today? 
Think big picture! Do not let little arguments ruin a relationship with your brothers. Work it out! Compromise!

13. When was the last time you visited Rowan or the chapter? 
In a very, very, very long time.

14. What is favorite event the chapter holds? 
I do not have an answer as I have not been down in a very, very, very long time.

15. Who's the 1 brother you want to reconnect with / see interviewed here? 
I would like have a reunion with the original 9 members and the alpha class at the Rowan Student Center and get kick out or arrested by Rowan Public Safety.

16. Name 1 friend you made in NJE you still keep in touch with...
Randy Morton is the person who I had the most contact with.

Career Stuff: 
17. Year you graduated from Rowan? 
December 1998

18. Degree(s) you graduated Rowan with? 
BA in Economics 

19. Any advanced degrees or certifications you have? 
I have several insurance designations like CPCU, AU, AIS, AINS

20. Your current occupation? 
Underwriter with Chubb Insurance

21. Number of years in that occupation? 
Going on 7 years with Chubb, but in total 15 years in Insurance with other companies.

22. Any career advice you would give to an undergraduate Phi Psi today? 
Stay focused in what you want. People may say “No” to you a lot, and that may get you down and you want to quit. If you really want it you have to keep pushing and fighting until you get the “Yes”. 

23. What's one piece of advice you'd give every undergraduate about networking?
Networking is very important in all types of businesses and career fields

Relationships/Family/Personal Stuff: 
24. Are you currently in a relationship? If so, with who and for how long? 
Yes, I been married for 11 years to Becky Clayton 

25. Do you have kids? If so, how old and their names? 
Ethan (7) and Jack (3). Future Phi Psi’s???

26. Hobbies that you are currently into? What do you like to do in your spare time? 
I like Woodworking, and home projects.

27. Anything you would like to share with other brothers through the blog regarding your relationship/family/personal life?
It has been 15 years since the beginning, and most of the undergrands were very little kids ‘when we started it all. A lot of things have happened and a lot has changed. I am very proud of our chapter and for the people who started it and the ones that continue to make it go!!
