Ask Chaty: Don't Be Afraid!

We are introducing a new series to the blog called "Ask Chaty", where brother Marc Chaty '00 will answer all your serious and not so serious questions about Phi Kappa Psi and New Jersey Epsilon! Having almost 2 decades worth of experience with Phi Kappa Psi and being a chapter founder/chartering member, Order of the SC member, Chapter Adviser, Corporation Board of Trustee, and frequent educator at pledge educations for local and national history, brother Chaty has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he can share with all brothers of our chapter.

The goal of this series is for brother Chaty to answer 1 serious question about the Fraternity and 1 not so serious question each post.  The serious questions are meant to be something that will help you learn something about the Chapter.  Topics may include:

  • Phi Kappa Psi nationally or locally
  • Aspects of Phi Kappa Psi like the creed, our values, ritual (when appropriate for the blog)
  • History of Phi Kappa Psi nationally or locally
  • Organizational stuff like how to be an officer, run a committee, what the corporation is and how it works, etc
The not so serious questions may be anything that you like, but hopefully something that will relate to Phi Kappa Psi in some form.  In typically Chaty fashion, nothing is too outrageous and we fully expect some hilarious and interesting questions and answers.

Chaty will be fielding questions via the special email account (AskChaty@gmail.com). A new Twitter account has been created (@AskChaty) in case you wish to interact between blog postings.  The AskChaty editors reserve the right to post and answer any questions they feel are appropriate for this blog and for this series.

In Their Own Words: Chartering Edition

In honor of the 14th anniversary of our chartering, this week's "In Their Own Words" comes from a brother who was around during our chartering days and would like to share his memories of chartering.

In Their Own Words: Dean Ialacci's "My time at the American Leadership Academy in Cabo 2014"

This week we will be starting a new series of blog posts called "In Their Own Words", where brothers of the chapter will share stories of their own experiences in Phi Kappa Psi.  This week's "In Their Own Words" is provided by undergraduate brother, Dean Ialacci '12.  Dean recently attended the American Leadership Academy in Cabo San Lucas and it sharing his experience from that adventure with all of us.

We will post these stories on Fridays, when they are available, so it may not be an every week thing.  This first story is being posted today (on a Thursday) because we have no birthdays coming up this week, so I am posting this early to fill the void.  If you are interested in writing a detailed story like the one below, you are welcome to do so.  All that we ask is that you pick a topic that you can write in length about and is related to Phi Kappa Psi in some capacity, and share some pictures with the story.  Please try to write it exactly how you would like it to be posted on the blog.  We will also be reaching out to individual brothers about specific experiences from time to time.  If someone reaches out to you, we hope that you will choose to participate in this and provide the answers to any questions asked.
